Che Assange - Fighting for our right to freedom of information, free speech and global justice
What an incredible age we live in. If information is freedom, we are indeed rich if we can view the internet without censorship, without fear of being dragged from our homes and persecuted for our beliefs or political views... We are rich if we can sleep at night knowing that everyone we love and care about won't be blown to smithereens by morning...
It's a sad, sad state of affairs when the real terrorists of our world - the despotic rulers that enslave and oppress under the guise of false democracy - can get away with a broad-scale disinformation campaign like the one waged recently against Julian Assange.
When Assange was asked at the 2010 Oslo Freedom Forum, about the ideology and intended purpose of Wikileaks, he stated:
^ Lysglimt, Hans (9 December 2010). "Transcript of interview with Julian Assange (2010-4-26)". Oslo Freedom Forum. Farmann Magazine. Retrieved 14 December 2010
As someone who sees his mission in life - via Wikileaks - to keep governments honest and redress the imbalance of tyranny with full transparency, he has become our new national hero. Viva Julian Assange!

Macbook Pro Battery stuck in 0% limbo
Well, after letting my laptop sleep for too long, the battery gave up the ghost and wouldn't recharge. It was plugged in but the battery remained on 0% for longer than normal.
I tried a reboot, but that didn't work, so I tried what had worked once before:
shutting down, taking the battery out, replacing it and pressing the test light button to see the green indicator light. Then plugged in the power and waited for 15 mins before booting up.
Viola! It worked.
One more tip for future reference - Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC).

the 4:3 ratio blues
Well, it's starting. It was only a matter of time and standards creep. As we move forward into the 21st century, widescreen is 'king'. I'm viewing things my trusty 23yr old telly never had to deal with before. Tiny images and barely legible type, the wide screen format is rendering inset images and text far to small to be seen properly and the standards are slipping into the void...
Even films are starting to be impossible to view in the old rounded edge square that I'm used to... As a VHS-er, I'm sad. This is all just so Beta...
