the 4:3 ratio blues

Well, it's starting. It was only a matter of time and standards creep. As we move forward into the 21st century, widescreen is 'king'. I'm viewing things my trusty 23yr old telly never had to deal with before. Tiny images and barely legible type, the wide screen format is rendering inset images and text far to small to be seen properly and the standards are slipping into the void...

Even films are starting to be impossible to view in the old rounded edge square that I'm used to... As a VHS-er, I'm sad. This is all just so Beta...

  1. Afterword: The telly mentioned above is now dead - succumbing to the red twitch, the atlas-chin effect, strange lines jumping around and jagging someones jaw out to make them look more like cartoon characters... 25 years to almost the day.. thanks me ol' mate Akai television. n RIP...
